ISPM15 Standard

Globalization and thriving international trading of goods have made wooden pallets an indispensible mean to carry loads of any kind. Since parasitic diseases and pests can be found in wood that can cause severe environmental damages and be a threat to the ecosystem the International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM15) has been introduced that is controlled by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC).

The ISPM15 standard defines a heat treatment procedure that is capable of exterminating organisms in the wood that are harmful to forests. This is achieved by heating up all produced EPAL pallets to at least 56°C for a minimum of 30 continuous minutes throughout its entire wooden profile.
